2010 RUN FOR THE ROSES
SETS NEW RECORDS

Six hundred and twenty.
That incredible figure is the number of happy guests who attended Run for the Roses this year, setting a new fund-raising and attendance record for Tulsa Boys' Home's annual gala event!
Like a well oiled machine (or horse!), the exciting Kentucky Derby party and auction started on time on Saturday, May 1st, at 1:00 pm at the Tulsa Fairgrounds Pavilion. It was the sixth year for this very popular and successful fund-raising event.
From the smiles and laughter that were everywhere in the huge arena, it was obvious that guests once again enjoyed the wonderful food and drinks, silent and live auctions, and the races simulcast live from Churchill Downs. The famous Art Deco Pavilion was again spectacularly decked out with thousands of fresh, live, red roses and lights.
Our Master of Ceremonies was Kristin Dickerson, News 8 Reporter. The Doo Woppa Doos musical group was a crowd pleaser, and our silent and live auctions were outstanding with Jay Litchfield as the live auctioneer. Sherri Griggs and Lisa Collidge were in charge of putting together our excellent silent and live auctions.
Among the most impressive live auction items offered was a chance to purchase a vehicle from Jackie Cooper Imports in Tulsa at dealer’s invoice!
Most ladies wore elaborate hats in the grand Derby tradition, and three judges choose Kelly Clark as the proud owner of the Best Derby Hat in 2010. She won a $250 gift certificate from Reasors grocery stores in Tulsa.
The men wore everything from short sleeve Hawaiian shirts to three-piece suits, and many of our guests placed bets at betting booths Derby day races courtesy of Ron Shotts of the Fair Meadows Racetrack staff.
