Every picture tells a story. But for too many Oklahoma boys, their picture tells a story about a child deeply hurt by a very broken family.
One boy’s dad abandoned him when he was six, and he really doesn’t remember him anymore. Another boy’s mom has had lots of boyfriends since his dad left, and some of them yell and physically abuse him when they get high or angry.
Many boys and their moms have moved lots of times because they can’t pay the rent and utilities. Sometimes, they can’t even afford food. Some of the boys read at a third grade level even though they are fifteen years old. They are too worried and stressed about just surviving to care about school. And pent-up frustration, hurt, and anger frequently erupt in fights at school, often resulting in being suspended...
But with your help, we can develop a different picture for these boys. With your support, we will house, feed, clothe, educate, love, support, and heal more than 174 Oklahoma boys this year alone.
For 91 years, Tulsa Boys’ Home has helped thousands of boys with serious emotional and behavioral problems. More than 11,300 of them have been given the help and hope they need to overcome a future of abuse, poverty, drugs, and crime.
Over the years, many of our boys have gone on to become doctors, pastors, business owners, coaches, teachers, soldiers, and engineers. Psychologically and spiritually restored, they have left Tulsa Boys’ Home as young men who are more self-disciplined, educated, and productive. Many have broken the chain of poverty and abuse that has haunted their families for generations.
